Celebrating the People at the Heart of Long-Term Care

June has been a special month at Caressant Care. As Ontario celebrated  Seniors Month and the long-term care community came  together for National Long-Term Care Day on June 13, we had a meaningful opportunity to pause and celebrate the people who make our homes what they are – our residents, their families, our dedicated teams, and the volunteers who give so generously of their time.

These two occasions reflect something we hold close every day: that our seniors  deserve to live with dignity, purpose, and joy, and that the care surrounding them is a shared and deeply meaningful responsibility.

Honouring a Lifetime of Contributions: Seniors Month

Throughout June, Seniors Month invited us to recognize the many ways seniors  have shaped our families, our communities, and our country. Across both our long-term care and  retirement homes, our residents carry rich and varied life stories – careers built over decades, families raised, talents nurtured, and experiences that continue to inspire the people around them.

At Caressant Care, our residents are our primary focus, and their needs, comforts, and satisfaction always take priority. Seniors Month is a wonderful reminder to celebrate not just the care we provide, but the remarkable individuals who receive it. From milestone birthdays to shared stories over morning coffee, we are continually honoured to be part of our residents’ ongoing journeys –  and to create a true sense of home where every person is valued and respected.

Recognizing the Long-Term Care Community: National Long-Term Care Day

June 13 marked the third annual National Long-Term Care Day, an occasion established by the Canadian Association for Long Term Care (CALTC) to recognize the contributions and achievements of the long-term care sector.

Behind every comfortable day in our homes is a team of compassionate professionals and volunteers whose kindness enriches daily life. Their combined effort is what makes high-quality, resident-centred care possible.

This day speaks directly to two of our most deeply held values – teamwork and excellence. We recognize that it is the collective dedication of our entire team that contributes to the quality of life our residents experience, and we remain committed to ongoing learning, professional growth, and continuous improvement in everything we do.

Guided by Our Values

For over 50 years, Caressant Care has been guided by compassion, focused on people, and committed to excellence. These values shape every decision we make and define the experience we strive to create for our residents, families, team members, and communities.

That same commitment looks to the future in our newly released 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, a three-year roadmap built on four core pillars: Resident and Family, Team, Environment, and Community. It reflects our continued dedication to consistent, high-quality care, a supported and engaged workforce, safe and welcoming environments, and meaningful connections within the communities we serve.

Looking Ahead

As we wrap up June, we carry forward a deep sense of gratitude – for the residents who trust us with their care, the families who partner with us, the teams who give so much of themselves, and the volunteers who brighten our homes every day.

Thank you for being part of the Caressant Care community.
