CARESSANT CARE HARRISTON
Nursing Home
Caressant Care Harriston offers its Residents a home-like environment in the quaint town of Harriston. Located in a mature neighbourhood a few short blocks from the downtown shopping area and other community amenities, accommodations are all on one level in a single story building. The attached Retirement home complements the Long Term Care Accommodations, allowing spouses, siblings and friends to continue to live and interact with one another, while each receiving the support appropriate to their own needs.
The Accredited 89-bed Long Term Care Residence provides 24-hour care and support under the program standards of the Ministry of Long Term Care with an added measure of TLC provided by qualified staff from the local area. Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses provide care, medications and supervision for care given by support staff.
Of special interest to many is the Restorative Care Program that offers physical activities for those whose goal it is to maintain their physical abilities or for those whose goal it is to rehabilitate to a higher level of physical ability. The Restorative Care program not only offers twice daily exercises, but with the supervision of a physiotherapist, residents are offered individualized therapeutic activities and physiotherapy exercises based on their personal goals.
Regular and special daily activities provide for social and stimulating opportunities. Our activities staff are always coming up with new and innovative events and things to do to complement the tried and true favourites keeping everyone involved and enthusiastic. Regular church services, community volunteers, pet therapy, intergenerational activities with the local school and regular outings also keep Residents in-touch and involved in the community.
Healthy meals and meal service are provided in one of the bright comfortable dining rooms. Menus are designed by a Registered Dietitian to follow Canada's Food guide, and follow a three week cycle, with two menu choices for each meal. Food is prepared on sight, with a home-cooked flare. Special and therapeutic diets can be provided based on each Resident's individual and assessed needs with consultation available by a Registered Clinical Dietitian.
All resident rooms will have air conditioning by end of August 2022, as these are special order units as approved by the Ministry of Long Term Care.
