For more than 10 years, Janet Lunan has been putting her heart and soul into being an RPN at Caressant Care Bourget. To say she is passionate about her working there would be an understatement.

She loves working at the Home because of the incredible team she works with.

"If I am feeling down or blue before I get to the Home, once I am there the blues disappear because of how well-received I am at the Home. I have worked for bigger Homes in the past, but none of them come close to the caring spirit we have at Bourget"

And for Janet her love of the Home is deeply personal. "My mom was a Resident here and she passed away peacefully at the Home so I can relate to our Residents and their families very well."

So loved by her co-workers, they nominated Janet for a community award: Art of Caring nursing Award 2020 through Scrubs for Them professional Uniforms in Ottawa. Voting continues to June 5th, 2020.

"She's a gem. The staff and residents just love her," says Pamela Richmond, Executive Director at Caressant Care Bourget.

And here's one reason why. "On Mother's Day I helped a few Residents connect with family using the Facebook app Facetime," says Janet. "What was really special for me was one Resident who has dementia and I wasn't sure she would recognize her son. But when she saw his face, she lit up and talked about the present. She was so happy to see him and was a magical moment."

Janet, herself a mother of six children and 18 grandchildren with another on the way, is why we love our nurses and the incredible work they do every day for our Residents.
