At Caressant Care, we follow Hot Weather Protocols as set out by the Ministry of Health including having several cooling stations located within the home such as TV lounges, dining rooms and sitting areas.

Air temperatures are recorded daily and when the humidex reaches a certain level, the hot weather protocols are put in place. This means high risk residents are assessed and appropriate interventions such as light, cool clothing and proper hydration are put in place. These are best practices followed throughout the province in all long term care homes and hospitals.

If you know someone who may be vulnerable to extreme heat, please do check on them. Many municipalities have cooling stations for people to go and most shopping malls have air conditioning.

Stay cool and enjoy summer.
