Wayne and Shirley Hartung have been volunteering for 20 years at our Listowel retirement home

and love doing it because they get as much out of the experience as do the people they help. Sadly, Shirley passed away this past fall but Wayne continues what the two of them had started so many years ago.

Wayne is 84 and enjoys playing cards twice a month with residents. They play Euchre and other card games. He also enjoys a game crokinole.

When he is not playing cards, Wayne helps with the bazaar and other special events.

And though Shirley is no longer with him when he visits, he still feels her presence and says he will continue to volunteer as long as he is able to because that is what Shirley would have wanted.
