Our home opened in 2000 and is the ultimate in country living but at the same time located a stone’s throw from local businesses. Caressant Care Cobden’s Long Term Care Home became one of the first built to the New Design Standards set out by the Ministry Long Term Care.
The building is structured around an inner courtyard with access from the Long Term Care Home and the adjacent Retirement Home, offering residents a quiet and secure outdoor area to enjoy. Caressant Care Cobden also was able provide space for the Cobden Public Library within the building thus providing a close contact with the community itself.
Residents now live in their own “Home” of 32 residents. Each Unit has a dining room, activity/lounge areas, etc. There is also a large activity room for all residents to join together for events as well as a Chapel for the use of residents and families. Activities range from crafts, bingo, get fit, bible study and birthday parties. We also host outside entertainment such as local bands, speakers and other groups in the Cobden area. All our Resident rooms now have air conditioning.
Our residents enjoy 3 home-cooked meals every day that are prepared by our Dietary staff, and physician-ordered diets can be accommodated.

Our rooms come fully furnished but residents are encouraged to personalize their rooms by adding personals items and some favourite pieces of furniture. For the well-being of everyone, please note that we may need to limit or deny personal items that don’t meet our home’s guidelines. Each room has a 4-piece ensuite bathroom and linens are supplied if desired.
Residents enjoy our tastefully decorated lounge with a beautiful fireplace and plenty of windows. The windows overlook our front entrance as well as our courtyard which features a gazebo in the warmer months. Our television lounge is located off the main lounge, although residents have the option of purchasing cable service in their rooms. Our second courtyard has a water fountain and lovely gardens where our residents enjoy the sunshine as well as bird watching.
We serve 3 delicious meals daily, cooked right in our own kitchen and served in our beautiful and spacious dining room (which has 3 large floor-to-ceiling windows and a vaulted ceiling). Special diets can be accommodated and self-serve snacks are available 24 hours a day.
We have staff on duty 24 hours a day and daily activities are scheduled. A beauty salon, public library and chapel are also located in-house and we offer supervision of medications and laundry services at no extra cost. A laundry room is available for those wishing to do their own laundry.
Our residents’ opinions matter to us so we encourage our residents to join the Resident Council for monthly meetings.
Thanks Renfrew Mercury Readers for voting our Retirement home the best. We are Gold winners.
