Spreading Holiday Cheer: Making Memories Together at Caressant Care

The holiday season has brought joy and cheer across all of Caressant Care’s long term care and retirement homes, with each community embracing the festivities in its own unique way. From fun activities to festive decorations, our residents and team members have truly made the most of this special time of year. Here’s a glimpse of some of the holiday celebrations that have taken place at a few of our homes, where our residents and team members enjoyed the magic of the season to the fullest.

At Caressant Care Woodstock, the Men’s Club made the most of the season with a day packed full of fun activities. They took part in an obstacle course and enjoyed a car race challenge, having a great time bonding, laughing and getting into the holiday spirit.

Our PSWs also joined in with a holiday decorating competition! They transformed the nursing stations with beautiful decorations, turning the space into a festive wonderland. There’s truly no shortage of holiday cheer here, with festive activities and many joyful smiles from all our residents.

At The Maples Home for Seniors, the holiday season has been filled with excitement as residents prepare for Christmas. They’ve been busy creating their own gingerbread houses, adding a personal touch to each one with lots of creativity and care. It’s been such a fun and festive project and the results have been nothing short of amazing!

The residents have also been busy making beautiful Christmas decorations for their doors, adding a special touch of holiday spirit to their rooms. A huge thank you to Sabrina, our Activity Coordinator, for organizing all of these wonderful activities that have brought so much joy to our residents this season!

At Caressant Care Marmora, the holiday spirit was shining bright as residents joined in the Marmora Lions’ Santa Claus Parade of Lights. Despite the blustery weather, the residents and team members braved the snow to create a Santa’s workshop-themed float, adding their own light-up power chair decorations for extra fun. Caressant Care extends a huge thank you to all the residents, team members and families who volunteered and participated. It was such a fun event and the home is looking forward to doing it again next year!

At Caressant Care on Mary Bucke, the home was excited to receive a wonderful donation of poinsettias from the team at FM Radio 94.1 in St. Thomas. A big thank you to Tim, Sarah and Dave for their generosity, which brought some extra holiday cheer to the residents and team members!

Residents Ernie and Yvonne also had a special moment delivering the home’s annual food donation to the St. Thomas Caring Cupboard Food Bank. It was a heartwarming way to give back to the community and spread some holiday spirit!

At Caressant Care Bonnie Place, the holiday season has been full of fun activities for both residents and team members. The home came alive with Christmas games during the Christmas Carnaval, where everyone had a chance to join in and win a prize.

The fun continued with a gingerbread house decorating competition, where the team members got creative, building their own gingerbread houses. The best part? Our friendly judges, the residents, got to pick their favourite creation as the winner! The whole event was a great way to bring everyone together and celebrate the season with a little friendly competition.

It’s beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas at Caressant Care Cobden! Our Long Term Care Home residents joined in for delightful entertainment from Julie Larocque and her dad, Andy. Their performance added an extra touch of holiday magic to the home and left everyone with big smiles.

At our Retirement Home, the Christmas Tea was a festive highlight! Residents enjoyed delicious treats, a visit from Santa and entertainment by Jane Anne. The room came alive with holiday magic and made the day feel extra special.

Resident Eleanor’s two daughters and a friend also made the day extra special by hosting two craft sessions. Residents had a blast getting creative and the piano playing added a nice touch of music to the festivities.

Santa and Mrs. Claus also came by, fresh from the Cobden Parade, bringing their holiday magic. Doris, one of our residents, had her grandchildren join in, sharing candies and making sure everyone was smiling.

There was more fun with a morning of crafts and colouring. The home says a huge thanks to Christy for organizing the activity. The holiday spirit was truly alive and well at our Retirement Home!

At Caressant Care Harriston, the holiday season was full of fun and laughter as family members and friends came together to celebrate with our residents. With 42 guests in attendance, the room was buzzing with excitement as everyone gathered around for a traditional holiday meal. The door prizes added a fun twist – who doesn’t love a little extra holiday surprise? It was such a special time for families to reconnect and share the joy of the season with their loved ones.

To keep the holiday spirit going, our residents at our Harriston Home dove into some festive fun of their own! They spent time decorating cookies, creating their own holiday masterpieces and even crafting snow globes to capture the season’s magic.

Residents of Caressant Care Arthur enjoyed a delightful Traditional Christmas sing-along with Helena and the OptiMrs of Arthur. The warm welcome they received was a true reflection of the gratitude and appreciation for all they do to bring joy to the season. Moments like these remind us how amazing our community truly is!
