Since 1975, Caressant Care has been supporting families, enriching lives and delivering compassionate care to residents across Ontario. Fifty years ago, we opened our first long-term care home in Woodstock. Today, with 25 homes across the province, our commitment to serving small-town Ontario is stronger than ever. Our homes are deeply rooted in the communities they serve, and our growth over the past five decades is a testament to the trust these communities have placed in us.
Here’s a look at some of the moments that made this milestone month special, including celebrations for the Ontario Long-Term Care Association’s Long-Term Care (LTC) Engagement Day on September 12:
Maples Home for Seniors joined in the celebrations for the Ontario Long-Term Care Association’s (OLTCA’s) LTC Engagement Day. Residents and their loved ones enjoyed music by a pipe band, refreshments and sweets.

On September 12, Caressant Care Woodstock celebrated the OLTCA LTC Engagement Day and officially kicked off Caressant Care’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Residents shared stories and memories and enjoyed live entertainment by a local musician. Natalie Dechert, VP of Operations, delivered a powerful speech in which she recognized 50 years of Caressant Care. Woodstock Mayor Jerry Acchione also joined in the celebrations.

As part of LTC Engagement Day, Caressant Care Arthur welcomed MP John Nater, Ward 3 Councillor Lisa Hern, and Ward 4 Councillor Steve McCabe for a special visit. Officials toured the home, connected with residents, staff and families, and joined a lively resident social featuring laughter, stories and refreshments.

Residents and staff at Caressant Care Bourget welcomed local leaders for a joyful LTC Engagement Day celebration, including Clarence-Rockland Mayor Mario Zanth and City Councillor Diane Choinière.

Earlier this month, Caressant Care Harriston also held a special celebration to mark the organization’s 50th anniversary. The event brought together residents, families, staff, volunteers, external partners and local politicians. Attendees enjoyed live music, refreshments and delicious food in a warm and festive atmosphere.

September at Caressant Care has focused on honouring our legacy and celebrating the people who make our homes feel like home. From milestone birthdays to meaningful visits, each location created simple, heartfelt moments that brought people together. We’re proud to mark 50 years of care and excited for all that is still to come.
Caressant Care’s success over the past 50 years is thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers, the trust of families, and the vibrant lives of our residents. This milestone is a celebration of the people—past and present—who make Caressant Care what it is today.
As we honour our 50-year legacy, Caressant Care is planning for the future. We continue to grow, innovate and advocate for quality seniors care across Ontario.
