This September, Caressant Care celebrated its 50th anniversary at events taking place across Ontario.
For over five decades, Caressant Care’s homes have been deeply woven into the fabric of local communities. What began in 1975 as one long-term care home in Woodstock, Ontario, has grown into a trusted network of 15 long-term care homes and 10 retirement residences, serving more than 1,500 residents across the province.
Caressant Care officially launched its anniversary celebrations by taking part in LTC Community Engagement Day on September 12, a great annual event hosted by the Ontario Long-Term Care Association (OLTCA), with special signage and commemorative pins. In addition, each Caressant Care home was invited to continue the 50th anniversary festivities by hosting fun events for residents, volunteers and staff.
At Caressant Care Arthur, Perth–Wellington MP John Nater and Wellington North councillors Lisa Hern and Steve McCabe visited the home to meet and speak with residents. This event was featured prominently in the Wellington Advertiser (read more here).
The Wilmot-Tavistock Gazette covered the 50th anniversary of Maples Home for Seniors (read more here), which featured the Ingersoll Pipe Band and a large outdoor gathering. Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman, MP Arpan Khanna and Deputy mayor of East Zorra-Tavistock Brad Smith joined residents, staff and leadership from Caressant Care to mark the milestone and speak to the home’s legacy of care in the Tavistock community.
The Wellington Advertiser also featured Caressant Care Fergus, highlighting a full week of celebrations and its annual fall fair (read more here). On September 30, the home held a special award ceremony recognizing long-serving staff members. The fall fair featured live music from John Borton, a petting zoo from Little Hobby Hill Farm, and a virtual reality experience provided by Help Mobility.
94.1 myFM News shared highlights from the celebrations in St. Thomas homes, Caressant Care homes on Mary Bucke and Bonnie Place (read more here). The homes received official certificates of recognition from Mayor Joe Preston, while staff and residents celebrated with special treats and activities.
Caressant Care’s success over the past 50 years has been a true team effort, built on the compassion, trust, and commitment of our entire community. Here’s to the next 50!
